I’m running because when I see a need in my community and believe I can contribute, I’m willing to step forward. I’ve lived in this area for several years, and over that time I’ve found meaningful ways to contribute, from volunteering with local organizations to helping turn community ideas into projects that make a difference. When the opportunity to run for Thomson Town Board came up, I saw it as another way to serve my community. I care about where we live and want to be part of the decisions that shape its future. I’m running because I’m willing to listen, learn, ask questions, and put in the work to help Thomson continue to be a community we’re proud to call home.
Thomson is growing, and I believe we can embrace that growth without losing what makes our community so special. My plan for growth is simple: it must be intentional, not accidental. I will work to ensure we encourage development in the right areas, making sure any new growth is fully supported by the infrastructure and services it needs. We must protect the rural character, our neighborhoods, and the natural resources we all value, while still allowing Thomson to evolve. By supporting housing and economic opportunities that truly fit our community, we can build a strong future together. Let's shape our growth thoughtfully, preserving our unique character.
In Thomson, we need to plan for our future before we are facing a crisis. Public infrastructure, our roads, drainage, sewers, broadband, and parks, doesn't just happen overnight. It takes careful planning, clear prioritization, and responsible investment. My approach is simple: we must maintain what we have first. By taking care of our existing roads, facilities, and equipment now, we prevent problems from becoming much more expensive down the road. I will focus on planning ahead, coordinating our infrastructure investments with our expected growth and development. Finally, I will build strong partnerships with Carlton County, the state, and our neighboring communities to secure outside funding and collaborate on projects. Let's fix our problems before they become emergencies, and plan our investments before we are forced into them.
I believe you shouldn't have to be an expert in township government just to understand what is happening in our community. I want to make our local government easier to understand and participate in. First, we need clear communication. I will make sure information about meetings, projects, development proposals, and decisions is easy to find and understand. You shouldn't have to know the right person to get answers from your own government. Second, I will fight for meaningful participation, ensuring you have a real opportunity to be heard before major decisions are made, not just after the fact. Finally, I will bring accountability by tracking progress toward our goals and explaining when we change course. Let’s build a government that is open, clear, and accountable to everyone.
I believe we must always be thoughtful with your hard-earned money. To me, true fiscal responsibility is about more than just keeping taxes low. It means deeply understanding what our township needs, planning for our major expenses, and considering the long-term cost of every decision we make. If elected, I will focus our limited resources on the projects and services that address our greatest needs and provide the most lasting benefits. I want us to prepare for the future through proactive budgeting and capital planning, anticipating big expenses instead of waiting for emergencies. We will also make the best use of every resource by pursuing sensible grants and partnerships. Simply put, we should always know what we are buying, why we need it, and how we are going to pay for it.
